Osteomielite is an inflammation of the bone marrow or of the bone, marrow, and endosteum. After traumatic bone damages, especially open breaking and bedsores, it is usual for osteomielitis to develop. Bacteriums from wound get into bone and create constant inflammation and bone decomposition. Cases when patients turn back to the hospital after treating bone breakages with screws and plates with complaints about reddness and pain are not rare. These are indications that osteomielitis has started to develop.
Osteomielitis can be also acute illness when an infection spreads around in the organism and through blod gets into bones developing their inflammation.
Consequences from untreated osteomielitis can be the following: bone decomposition, damaged liver, spleen, kidney, blod poisoning, cancer.
